Audio - Book 23 is being recorded in November so should be out in mid December (though I don’t know how Christmas might delay the automated release process. These days, the audiobooks are reviewed by AI, and I don’t know how much holiday time their union has negotiated for them.) Book 24 should be recorded in January.

Synopsis

Water, shelter, food. Those three words have come to consume Kim Wright’s life as she takes charge of for the returning evacuees. Three simple words that encompass so much. Fields have to be cleared, houses repaired, a hospital established, a school opened, fishing boats built, electricity restored, and so much more. The list seems endless if they are to avoid another Dark Age, but she wants to do more than just preserve the old civilisation. They could rebuild better, if only given the chance.

For Bill, only recently returned from the final evacuation of Quebec, the major challenge should be creating a new government for these survivors of many nations. But the piratical fanatics have followed them across a continent, bringing war to their new home. A final battle looms in which they will either achieve victory, or see all they’ve created destroyed and thus end humanity’s last chance for survival.

Etienne has a different quest, one which has consumed him since the beginning of the outbreak. In his heart, he knows his wife, Maggs, is alive. Even on the eve of war, he won’t abandon the search.

A story of love, hope, and loss as the final battle nears.

As it stands today (though I had a different plan last week, so this is subject to change), the North American part of this series will conclude in Book 25. Chester will be helping the Australian police with their enquiries in Book 26. Flora and Tuck will return home to Britain in Book 27. These stories may end up taking more than one book each, but with the outlines I have at the moment, I won’t know until they’re written.
Afterwards, I’ve plans for two standalone stories: Muster Point, set at the beginning of the outbreak, following Flora’s brother as he witnesses the evacuation and its horrors first hand; and Bunker, a murder mystery set in a post-apocalyptic bunker designed by Cousin John (and co-staring him). Beyond that, I have some ideas on how to continue the adventures of our heroes, but I’ll need to see where everyone ends up after Book 27.

In other book news, I’ve finished and am now editing a story of magic, murder, and monsters that begins in our London of 2025. The creatures of myth and magic are real, and were hunted almost to extinction long before the first history was written. Finding refuge in the islands of Britain and Ireland, they now live in secret, paying a tithe to the government for their safety. Once again, they are being hunted, their last remnants of magic sought in a bid for power. After twenty-three years inside, Yorley Cooper only wants to spend time with his daughter. An accidental witness to murder, he becomes the latest unwilling warrior in this ancient conflict. Magic must be contained for the world we know to continue... Before I publish, I want to see if it’ll work as a series about a magical-infused apocalypse, but whether it’s a standalone or not, it’ll be out next year.

Happy reading, Frank :)
